CERAWeek In Houston, because of the coronavirus, the energy conference was canceled

CERAWeek, a major energy utilities, business & industrial conference held annually in the American city of Houston, has been canceled due to the coronavirus.

"We are canceling CERAWeek 2020, which was scheduled to be held March 9-13 in Houston, in light of the situation. We are doing so with deep disappointment. Concerns about the COVID-19 Coronavirus have been widespread over the past few days," said the organizers in a letter to registered participants and conference guests.

🔹 The report notes that the U.S. authorities have tightened requirements for entry into the country and canceled a number of events.

The conference in Houston was to be attended by delegates from 80 countries, including heads of major energy companies and energy ministers.

On December 31, 2019 Chinese authorities informed the World Health Organization (WHO) about an outbreak of unknown pneumonia in Wuhan city in the central part of the country (Hubei province). 

Specialists have identified the pathogen, a new coronavirus. WHO recognized the outbreak as an emergency of international importance and gave the disease its official name, COVID-19.
