According to the minister, the chain of infection with coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 has recently become extremely difficult to track - and because of this it is not clear whether the current strategy to combat the virus will lead to limiting its spread.

According to Spahn, the Ministry Health, the Robert Koch Institute for Infectious Diseases and the authorities of the federal states affected by the virus have established a crisis headquarters to counter the epidemic.

The minister urged citizens not to panic and not to go to hospital because of a simple cough - but those who have visited infected areas in the past two weeks are advised to be examined and go to home quarantine.
