The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, announced that the risk assessment of coronavirus at the global level has been raised to "very high". This was reported on Friday.

Chinese authorities told WHO in late December 2019 about an outbreak of unknown pneumonia in the city of Wuhan in central Hubei province.

WHO recognized the outbreak as an emergency of international importance and gave the disease its official name, COVID-19.

Earlier radio Sputnik reported that Russian gymnasts will miss the World Cup event in the USA because of coronavirus.

Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus also noted that the first results of vaccines against the disease are expected in a few weeks.

Over 20 vaccines are being developed around the world and several are under clinical study," he added.
